Sunday night is the time for simple, home style food. This meat sauce was simple and delicious and I served it together with rotini pasta – which is perfect for picking up just the right amount of sauce in every bite.
1/2 one Spanish onion, diced
1 T garlic, minced
1.5 pound ground beef
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Chile powder
Dried oregano
Tomato sauce
Fresh Basil
Saute the onion and garlic until translucent. Add meat and brown until golden. (I didn’t break up the meat too much to give the effect of “meatballs” in a way. It really is the lazy way to make meatballs but it looks so rustic, I can’t resist.) Season with all the seasonings, including kosher salt and black pepper. Add tomato sauce, and cook in a slow bubble for about twenty minutes while you boil the pasta. garnish with fresh basil. (I like to drain the pasta and add it to the sauce directly which coats it beautifully.)
