I was debating whether or not to post such a simple recipe, but I figured that you might want a quick go-to recipe for a weeknight meal. This is easy to prepare, but dresses up nicely enough for guests or a fancy dinner at home.
Horseradish is one of my favorite flavors because it pairs well with so many ingredients, and beef is probably at the top of my list. It has a pungent spiciness that is so satisfying against the crispiness of the grilled steak!
You can probably even use less salt because the flavor of the horseradish is enough to add that extra flavor you crave with steak. The best part about this cream “sauce” is that you can adjust the amount of spiciness you want. Add more mayonnaise to dilute the flavor, or add less for a spicier bite.
I served this simply with some roasted broccoli and fried shoestring potatoes on the side, but a nice alternative is to make this steak over a hearty salad (like kale, spinach, etc) and make a vinaigrette out of the horseradish cream. Just make sure to slice the steak thin.
Grilled Steak with Horseradish Cream
Easy steak packed with lots of flavor
- 2 pounds boneless chuck steak
- to taste Kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon Granulated garlic
- 1 teaspoon Granulated onion
- 1 tablespoon Oil ((I used olive oil))
- 1 cup Mayonnaise (regular, not light)
- 1 cup Prepared horseradish (with juice)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice (fresh squeezed)
- Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Italian parsley (optional garnish)
-
1. Pat your steaks dry and season with kosher salt, granulated onion and garlic.
2. Mix the mayonnaise, horseradish and lemon juice in a bowl. Reserve.
3. Get a grill pan hot (without oil) and then add the oil – swirl over grill pan- and add your steaks. Allow them to cook (without moving them) on each side until the edges become opaque, and you can easily lift them. (aproximately 5-7 minutes ) Turn them over and continue cooking on the other side for approximately 5 minutes.
4. Allow the steak to rest for 10 minutes and slice to your desired thickness. Serve with horseradish cream over your steak and top with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
